Landon Korabek OneLove JamFest was honored to present to NOPE (Narcotics Overdose Prevention and Education) a donation of $16,500 on July 27. NOPE reaches thousands of students and parents, in middle and high school across Pinellas County, through their impactful presentations that explain the dangers of prescription drug abuse and the sometimes unexpected fatal results. Recent CDC studies state that education is one of the factors that is reducing drug overdoses. NOPE’s education works, students listen. The JamFest donation also helps support the annual NOPE Candlelight Vigil, held in October, to remember those affected by addiction or the loss of a family member. Additionally, this year NOPE presented scholarships to 3 Pinellas County high school seniors attending college. Thank you to everyone that supports Landon Korabek OneLove JamFest efforts to raise this generous donation and helping NOPE continue their mission in our community.

Landon Korabek OneLove JamFest 2014 – Wow! A terrific event and fundraiser to remember Landon. Thank you for the terrific turnout and support. There is no greater joy then seeing so many people come together to support NOPE (Narcotics Overdose Prevention and Education) and the Landon Korabek Music Scholarship at Marcia P Hoffman School of the Arts. All of the bands really played their hearts out as the crowd widely danced. Thanks to Steve Shabala, Guru2, Six Volt Rodeo, Horny Toads and Shenanigans and thank you for the surprising autographed guitar. Thanks to Dr. Sherry Showalter for kicking off this event with her spiritual wisdom and reminding us that Landon is always with us . A huge thanks to the Thirsty Marlin, Brian St. Arnold, the entire staff as you all did an amazing job servicing everyone that attended the event. Our ability to raise money would not be possible without the support of many, many businesses through their donations, program and t-shirt sponsorships. Please support these businesses! What makes this event run so smoothly is the help of so many volunteers; those that helped with set-up, selling tickets and tshirts, manning the silent auction table, selling balloons and 50/50 tickets, pulling raffle tickets and posting the winners, and so much more. Over 30 volunteers helped and we are so grateful. Finally, OneLove JamFest takes months of planning and coordination done by a committee of 8 people. They help with donations, marketing, event day planning, band engagement, basket assembly, program design and poster and shirt design. They give countless hours – thank you Kendra, Karen, Lori, Tanya, Shirley, Lis and Brenda. You ladies rock. Stay tuned for the final tally of what was earned from the event. Finally, talk to your children about the dangers of prescription drugs using Landon’s story as reality and truth that this can happen to them. OneLove.
